Woot! Had another 2 hour session with my tattoo artist and he’s done with the koi on my calf! This piece is finished anyway. It still feels a little empty. I’ll be going back to him in the future to discuss possible extensions to the existing design. Am thinking probably some cherry blossoms and a lotus flower. Perhaps even another to keep this one company? Did it hurt? Not particularly, until he started the shading on the head. THAT hurt like a mofo! Very nice job though…

That is freaking awesome! It came out really great! The color and shading is beautiful. My koi has a lot of color in the waves, along with cherry blossoms and a lotus flower. I’ll look for a picture (or take one for you!).
Congrats! How’s Bob? I would say my ankle is at 90%. Overall, it’s really solid, just not up for anything more than 5 miles in one stretch. I’d like to get back to half marathoning, but we’ll see.
Hi Marilyn. Thanks for the nice comment! I’d love to see a picture of yours as you know I’m still thinking of how to extend this one. Bob is… I would say also at about 90+%. I’ve gone back to climbing for more than a month now and there hasn’t been any dramas. Running doesn’t seem to be a problem either but I dunno about 5 miles… how many kms is that?? Hope you get back to your half marathons pretty quick.
Let’s see, 5K is 3.1 miles, so maybe 5 miles is about 8K (I suck at math — and metrics).
I posted some pix on my Flickr page for you: http://www.flickr.com/photos/marlinex/
Couldn’t get it all in one (it wraps around my arm and actually goes around to my back). One of these days I’ll get real pix taken.
Christ! That water looks good! Also looks painful though… That’s a huge piece! Is there a reason for the word ‘BIG’ to be on the body of the koi?
Uh, it’s supposed to be dog.

I even had it confirmed. Please tell me it is!
Here’s more confirmation:

Oh shit sorry… Didn’t see the little dot stroke on the top right… Without it, it means ‘BIG’ in chinese. Not sure about kanji though… I’ll ask around. Didn’t mean to make you panic…
It is…. the kanji character for ‘dog’ that is.
I asked too!
Phewwwww….I was wondering why the people at the sushi place always ask me the significance. So you know, it’s in memory of my dog Blauser. I promised him I would get a tattoo in memory of him when we had to say goodbye to him in 2003.
